Rail Freight Parliamentary Reception 2025

The Rail Freight Parliamentary Reception took place on Tuesday 11 March 2025 at the House of Commons Pavilion, with discussion on measures to support rail freight and getting the structure right for a future GBR.

Rail Partners, along with its rail freight members, hosted the Rail Freight Parliamentary Reception on 11 March. The event featured speeches from government and industry leaders including the Rail Minister. They were joined by more than 150 guests including MPs, peers, freight operators, and rail freight customers.

The reception followed the launch of Rail Partners' report, A Greener Track: Making rail freight cost effective, which offers new insights into the role of government policy in freight pricing, and identifies ways for government to secure rail freight growth. Those challenges and the findings were referenced by both Andy Bagnall and Tim Shoveller, CEO, Freightliner, in their respective speeches.

The Rail Freight Parliamentary Reception 2025 was kindly sponsored by Martin Vickers MP, Ruth Cadbury MP, and Charlotte Cane MP.

Speakers:

  • Lord Hendy, Minister for Rail
  • Ruth Cadbury MP, Chair of the Transport Select Committee
  • Tim Shoveller, CEO, Freightliner
  • Gareth Bacon MP, Shadow Secretary of State for Transport
  • Paul Kohler MP, Liberal Democrat Spokesperson, Transport
