Sustainability conference: Cutting carbon and connecting communities

Hosted by Rail Partners, the sustainability conference will take place on 13 November at the Barbican Centre in the City of London.

Rail Partners’ first ever sustainability conference will focus on two themes: cutting carbon and connecting communities. Join us to hear from TOC colleagues and others who are championing sustainable initiatives. Panel sessions alongside engaging speakers and exhibition stands will give you lots of ideas to improve the sustainability of your business.

On the agenda:

  • Rachel Turner, East Midlands Railway -  will provide a case study on the opportunities to reduce carbon from introducing a new bi-mode diesel/electric train fleet
  • Jase Brooker, GTR - will discuss GTR's work with community climate action group Energy Garden to install solar panels at its depots
  • Jools Townsend, Community Rail Network - will talk about the opportunities for train operators to strengthen links with local communities and increase patronage
  • Frances Harkin, HACT - will explore how the social housing sector has strengthened community engagement and increased social value
  • Cutting carbon when money is tight and putting rail at the heart of the community will be key questions addressed by our panel sessions
